This morning, John Carmichael launched Asky, a simple site to share fun ASCII emoticons like (っ◕‿◕)っ, ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ, and (⋟﹏⋞).
He introduced the project with:
Sarcastically, I asked John, “But how is this going to scale? Why are you wasting your time on silly projects like this? Shouldn’t you be saving the world?”
Too often makers get criticized for building things that don’t solve “real” problems. It’s OK to build “dumb” things. Making doesn’t always have to be serious and like the guitarist practicing their craft, building an app is an expression of creativity and opportunity to learn.
